Motorbike games always seem to play second fiddle to their racing car counterparts, however that isn’t to say there hasn’t been some classics, with Road Rash being one example that comes to mind straight away. SBK World Championship 09 is no Road Rash, instead it attempts to take on games such as Moto GP, but does it succeed?

All of the modes will see you begin in the pit, here you can speak to the engineer before you begin the race in order to gain tips on how to race and how to handle the track, you will also be able to see the stats from the event you are currently taking part in and also and perhaps most importantly adjust the settings of your bike such as the suspension, gears, steering, brakes etc. This is a great touch for those who really love their bikes and want to tinker with the little settings that just might make a difference during the race.

It’s also worth mentioning for those sociable people out there that the game includes an online multiplayer mode allowing you and up to seven other players to take part in a quick race, championship or team championship. This mode seems to work well enough , although good luck finding someone online to play with after a few weeks of the games release.
